Ford Point & The Craneway
Ford Point, a historic industrial complex in Richmond, California, boasts 517,000 square feet on 26.5 acres with a captivating brick-and-glass exterior overlooking the San Francisco Bay. The complex was formerly an assembly plant for the Ford Motor Company during World War II, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. ODI acquired the property after several previous developers had withdrawn from the project. ODI embarked on an extensive seismic upgrade as well as the installation of a one-megawatt solar power plant. The restoration and redevelopment of Ford Point aimed to preserve its historical significance while creating a modern, sustainable community. The project's success earned it the American Institute of Architects National Honor Award in 2011, gaining recognition from esteemed publications. Ford Point stands as a testament to the adaptive reuse of historic industrial architecture, fostering a thriving business hub.
